Help & FAQs

Lava is here to help you Radio Better.

How does this work?

Lava polls radio stations at a regular interval to determine what they're playing. Each station is different so we have a multitude of ways to determine what's playing - these range from collecting playdata from Play-out systems in real time, importing play data from logs, parsing website and mobile application feeds right through to polling RDS.

Once the data is collected from its source, it's then added to a database where it's matched against verified artists. If the song hasn't been matched to an artist yet, a human (yep...) attaches the song to the appropriate artist/s. All the way through this process, the song will show up in reports, but may have multiple entries until it's matched - this is due to each station having different methods of representing artists.
